March 20-22: NC DECA State Competition ♡

Here's a post about the DECA State Competition I went to in March. I am posting this now because I wanted to do a post about Internationals and realized that I should first do a post about states. So here you go!

This is what I wore on the bus to Greensboro, NC, where the competition was held. My dog is behind me, looking sad that I was leaving. We stayed at a hotel that was across the street from a huge mall, so that's where we ate all of our meals and spent our free time. On the first night, we had an opening ceremony, where everyone wore things to show off their school pride. There were many different schools that came to compete! After the ceremony, everyone went to the dance hosted by DECA, which was very fun!

The next day is when the actual competing began. I was in 3 events, which were 2 Retail Merchandising role plays and 1 Financial Operations Research written event. The role plays were early in the morning and were running late on schedule. The scores of the role plays were combined with a test I had taken at school a few weeks before the competition. I had to quickly finish my role play before rushing to my next event, which is the one that I focused more of my attention on. I did this event with a partner. We wrote a 30 page paper in class prior to the competition and then created a presentation that we presented at States. Once I finished all my events, I went shopping with my friends at the mall and hung out. We ended up getting bored, so we took a Marketing Fundamentals test that they offered, as an extra way to earn an award. I ended up getting proficiency in that test, which means my score exceeded a set grade. Later, we went to an awards session for winners of the role play events and tests. Above is a picture of my friend and I with our crazy hats that our school wore. We also had light sabers and many other glow up toys to show off our spirit.

I won this award at role play and tests award ceremony. I got to go on stage and receive it, because I was one of the top 10 performers on the Marketing Fundamentals test, which I wasn't even planning on taking!

The next day we had another awards ceremony for the winners of the written events. There were finalists medals and then the groups that got top 5 in their event got a trophy. I ended up getting a finalist medal in the Financial Operations Research event and going on stage for the second time. My friend also got one of these medals for her Community Service project.

I also won 3rd place in my research event and was awarded this trophy! I was really excited and happy. A lot of my other friends won trophies too. The people who won trophies have the option of competing internationally, which I decided to do! I also got proficiency pins for my role plays, as well as my research event. We left Greensboro after this ceremony and drove back on the bus for a few hours. I had such a great experience at States!

3 Outdoor Music Festival Outfits ♡

The big Coachella music festival has already ended, but there are a bunch of other smaller outdoor music festivals going on everywhere! The Spring and Summer is the perfect time to go to one, because the weather is nice outside and you can wear long flowy skirts and dresses. I put together 3 outfits for any music festival or concert that you might be attending. I got inspiration from some of the outfits that I saw celebrities wearing at Coachella. They are super cute and I hope they inspire your outfit if you are going to a music event!

Outdoor festival

Red shirt, $26 / Long skirt, $12 / Necklaces, $11 / Shoes,  $45 / Leather handbag, $54 / Bracelets, $38 /Rings, $8.70 / Drop earrings, $6.12 / Beach hat, $30 / Round sunglasses, $66

I think wearing a long maxi skirt with a crop top is super cute! The long skirt balances out the crop top, and is perfect for hot weather. I also think lace up sandals are really fun make any outfit look more interesting. A hat is always nice for protecting your skin from the sun. This boho jewelry is also really nice, because it can be stacked and matched with other jewelry. Sunglasses are definitely an essential, and I think these pink aviators go perfectly with this outfit!

Festival look 2

Shirt, $13 / Denim cutoff shorts, $88 / Sandals, $129 / Clutch, $20 / Flash tattoos $15 /
Blue bracelet, $28 / Pearl bracelet, $85 / Beaded wrap bracelet, $38 / Necklace, $20 /
Head wrap, $11 / Lens glasses, $33

This outfit is a little more hipster. I think these long gladiator sandals would look super cute with high waisted shorts, so you can show them off to people without them hiding under a skirt or a dress. A cool way to wear a bandana is to tie it as a head wrap for your hair! I love the look of beaded bracelets and layered necklaces. I also think flash tattoos are a great way to add some fun and and shimmer to your look!

Festival look 2

Dress, $22 / Sandals, $45 / Boho purse, $49 / Multi color necklace, $26 / Rings, $9/
 Topshop hat, $48 / Sunglasses, $66

If you wear any kind of white clothing article, I definitely think you should pair it with some colorful accessories and jewelry! This tasseled necklace and clutch add fun pops of color and more to your outfit. I also think leather sandals are a nice basic for anyone, because they match almost anything. The rose gold sunglasses are super stylish and the hat tops off the look.

4.16.16//Fun Exploring + Update ♡

On this day I went driving around downtown and NoDa with my friend. We went to Amélie's French Bakery in NoDa, and then went to Target and drove around! We had a lot of fun, and there are pictures below♡

I am also going to be in Nashville, Tennessee from April 22-27 for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) for DECA, which is a marketing and business club that I am a member of. I placed at States and get to go to Internationals! We are going to be doing a bunch of fun things while we are there, such as ziplining and going to concerts. The only downside is missing 4 days, which means 16 classes of makeup work!

Tips for Accessorizing: Stacking Bracelets ♡

Long time no write! It's been a crazy few weeks with Spring Break, midterms and projects, but I am back with another post. Here are some tips for accessorizing with bracelets and stacking them!

When I pair bracelets together, I pick 3 or 4 main colors to focus on. When picking my bracelets, I try to stick to these colors, so they will match and complement each other. The bracelets usually are other colors too, but I find that as long as most of my bracelets have one of the main colors then they will match. I also try to pick bracelets of the same style, such as the ones above that are cute and fun. I picked bracelets that were more casual with beads. My last tip is to pick bracelets of similar sizes to pair together. I find this tip extremely important, because when one bracelet is bigger than the others, it tends to slide over the smaller ones and get tangled up over them. You don't want to keep messing with them and fixing them the whole day!
